Last February, Dr. Neus Sanchez-Alberola, one of the AIROPico researchers recruited by AbBcn S.L. in WP2 was invited to give a scientific talk at high school IES Casterllarnau in Sabadell, Spain. Her audience was a crowd of 50 students in their last year of the biology program and laboratory technician degree. In her presentation Dr. Sanchez-Alberola provided the students an outlook on career opportunities for laboratory technicians and some hands-on examples of her work within AIROPico at AbBcn S.L. This way, the students got practical insight in working at a biological company and were stimulated to consider a career in research. The presentation was highly appreciated by the students.

The AIROPico recruited fellows across the different workpackages meet online each month, to discuss the direction and progress of their projects. The meeting is organised by Workpackage 1 leader Professor Sarah Butcher, and attracts participation from the recruited fellows and also secondees from the partner institutions of the consortium. This initiative has formalised a channel of communication between the fellows that spans more than just the transfer of scientific knowledge, by facilitating interesting cross-cultural discussion in a true EU Marie Curie spirit. The meetings are geared towards addressing the fellows’ career development in particular.
